Editorial Policies

The Euphrates Journal for Innovation in Nanotechnology (EJIN) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, research integrity, and editorial responsibility. All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo rigorous evaluation in accordance with internationally recognized principles and guidelines governing ethical research practices and responsible scientific publishing.

Our editorial policies cover the following areas:

1.    Peer Review Policy

The Euphrates Journal for Innovation in Nanotechnology (EJIN) employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, scientific validity, and academic integrity of all manuscripts submitted for consideration. Each manuscript is evaluated by a minimum of two independent reviewers with appropriate expertise in the relevant field.

Reviewers are carefully selected on the basis of their academic and professional expertise, subject-area specialization, and absence of any potential conflicts of interest. Throughout the review process, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential to promote impartiality and objectivity.

The editorial team is committed to ensuring that all manuscripts are handled through a fair, transparent, objective, and confidential review process. Editorial decisions are based on the scientific quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and overall contribution of the submitted work.

EJIN is also committed to maintaining an efficient and timely editorial process. The journal endeavors to communicate editorial decisions to authors as promptly as possible and aims to provide an initial editorial decision approximately one week of submission, subject to the completeness of the manuscript, reviewer availability, and the complexity of the editorial assessment.

2. Author Responsibilities and Ethical Standards

Authors submitting manuscripts to the Euphrates Journal for Innovation in Nanotechnology (EJIN) are expected to adhere to the highest standards of research integrity, publication ethics, and professional conduct. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions comply with the following principles:

Authorship: Authorship should be restricted to individuals who have made substantial and meaningful contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research. Individuals who do not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors.

Author Approval: All individuals listed as authors must have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript and must provide their approval of any substantial revisions made during the editorial and peer-review process.

Conflicts of Interest: Authors are required to disclose any financial, professional, personal, or other relationships that could potentially influence, or be perceived to influence, the objectivity or interpretation of their research.

Acknowledgment and Citation of Sources: All sources of information, data, ideas, and other scholarly contributions must be appropriately acknowledged and accurately cited. Authors must ensure that their work is original and does not contain plagiarized or improperly attributed material.

Research Ethics: Research involving human participants, human-derived materials, or animals must comply with applicable international ethical principles, relevant national regulations, and institutional requirements. Where applicable, manuscripts must include appropriate approval from a recognized institutional ethics committee or review board.

Originality and Exclusive Submission: Manuscripts submitted to EJIN must represent original work that has not been previously published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals.

Research Misconduct: Authors must not engage in research or publication misconduct, including but not limited to plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, manipulation or inappropriate presentation of data, and unethical research practices.

In cases where research or publication misconduct is confirmed, EJIN reserves the right to take appropriate corrective action in accordance with established publication-ethics principles. Such actions may include rejection of the manuscript, correction or retraction of a published article, notification of the authors' affiliated institutions or relevant authorities, and other measures deemed necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy

The Euphrates Journal for Innovation in Nanotechnology (EJIN) recognizes the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in academic research and manuscript preparation. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to use such technologies responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with principles of research integrity and publication ethics.

Use by Authors: Authors may use AI-based tools, including language editing, grammar correction, translation, formatting, and other supportive technologies, to assist in the preparation of their manuscripts. However, the use of AI tools does not replace the authors' responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scholarly quality of the submitted work.

AI as an Author: AI systems, including generative AI tools, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts submitted to EJIN. Authorship requires accountability and responsibility that can only be assumed by human authors.

Disclosure and Transparency: Authors must transparently disclose any substantive use of AI-generated content or generative AI tools in the preparation of their manuscript. Where applicable, the disclosure should identify the AI tool used and describe the nature and purpose of its contribution.

Accuracy and Verification: Authors remain fully responsible for verifying all information, references, data, interpretations, and statements generated or assisted by AI tools. AI-generated content must be carefully reviewed to prevent inaccuracies, fabricated references, plagiarism, or other forms of research or publication misconduct.

Confidentiality During Peer Review: Reviewers must not upload, share, or otherwise disclose confidential manuscript content to publicly available or third-party AI tools. Reviewers may use AI-based technologies to assist with manuscript evaluation only when such use has been explicitly authorized by the EJIN editorial office and when appropriate measures are in place to protect the confidentiality of the manuscript and the peer-review process.

Editorial Responsibility: Editors and reviewers remain responsible for their professional judgments and editorial decisions. AI tools may assist with administrative or language-related tasks where appropriate, but they must not replace independent human judgment in evaluating the scientific quality, originality, ethical compliance, or suitability of a manuscript for publication.

EJIN may request additional information regarding the use of AI technologies when necessary to ensure transparency, confidentiality, and compliance with the journal's publication-ethics standards.

4. Data Availability and Reporting Standards

The Euphrates Journal for Innovation in Nanotechnology (EJIN) promotes transparency, reproducibility, and responsible research practices. Authors are encouraged to make the data underlying their research findings available whenever ethically, legally, and technically feasible.

All submitted manuscripts should include a Data Availability Statement specifying the availability and accessibility of the data supporting the reported findings. The statement should clearly indicate whether the underlying data are publicly available, available upon reasonable request, subject to restrictions, or not applicable.

Authors are encouraged to follow established, discipline-specific reporting standards and guidelines appropriate to the nature of their research. Manuscripts should provide sufficient methodological and reporting details to enable qualified researchers to assess the validity of the findings and, where reasonably possible, reproduce the research.

5. Ethics and Biosecurity

Research involving human participants, human-derived materials, or animals must comply with applicable international ethical principles, relevant national regulations, and institutional requirements. Where required, authors must obtain appropriate approval from a recognized institutional ethics committee, institutional review board, or equivalent authority before conducting the research.

Where informed consent is required, it must be obtained from participants or their legally authorized representatives in accordance with applicable ethical and legal requirements. Manuscripts should include an appropriate statement confirming that informed consent was obtained, or explaining why consent was not required or was appropriately waived.

EJIN is committed to promoting responsible and ethical scientific research. Authors are expected to consider and appropriately address potential dual-use concerns, biosafety, biosecurity, and other risks associated with their research, particularly when reporting findings, methods, materials, technologies, or applications that could potentially be misused or pose risks to individuals, society, or the environment.

Where relevant, authors should clearly describe the measures taken to mitigate identified ethical, safety, security, or dual-use risks while providing sufficient scientific information to maintain the integrity and reproducibility of the research.

6. Corrections, Retractions, and Appeals

The Euphrates Journal for Innovation in Nanotechnology (EJIN) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal will take appropriate and timely action when errors, inaccuracies, or ethical concerns are identified in published or submitted manuscripts.

Corrections: Minor errors that do not substantially affect the scientific validity, interpretation, or overall integrity of a published article may be corrected through the publication of an erratum or correction notice. Corrections will be clearly linked to the original article where appropriate.

Retractions: Articles may be considered for retraction when serious errors, unreliable findings, research misconduct, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, unethical research practices, or other significant violations of publication ethics are identified. Retraction decisions will be handled in accordance with recognized publication-ethics principles, including applicable Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance.

Appeals: Authors have the right to appeal an editorial decision when they believe that the decision resulted from a significant factual error, procedural irregularity, misunderstanding of the manuscript, or other substantive grounds. Appeals must be submitted formally to the editorial office and should provide clear justification and relevant supporting information. Appeals will be considered objectively and independently by the editorial team or an appropriate member of the editorial board.

7. Conflict of Interest Disclosure

EJIN requires authors, reviewers, and editors to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, the preparation, evaluation, editorial handling, or publication of a manuscript.

Authors must provide a conflict-of-interest statement at the time of manuscript submission. Reviewers and editors are expected to disclose relevant conflicts before participating in the review or editorial decision-making process and, where necessary, recuse themselves from the relevant manuscript.

Where applicable, conflict-of-interest disclosures associated with accepted manuscripts will be published alongside the article to promote transparency and maintain confidence in the integrity of the scholarly record.

8. Special Issues Policy

EJIN may publish special issues focusing on emerging, significant, or interdisciplinary topics that align with the journal's scope and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of nanotechnology research.

Special issue proposals may be submitted by qualified guest editors or other appropriately qualified academic researchers. Each proposal should clearly describe the proposed theme, scientific rationale, relevance to the journal's scope, prospective contributors, and proposed editorial team.

All special issues are subject to the same standards of peer review, research integrity, publication ethics, authorship, conflict-of-interest disclosure, and editorial quality that apply to manuscripts submitted to regular issues of EJIN. Acceptance for inclusion in a special issue does not guarantee publication, and all submitted manuscripts must undergo the journal's established editorial and peer-review procedures.

All special issue proposals must receive prior approval from the EJIN Editorial Board before the special issue is formally launched or manuscripts are solicited. Guest editors are responsible for supporting the editorial process in accordance with EJIN policies, while final editorial authority remains with the journal's designated editorial leadership.
